Willpower -vs-Good Intentions

by Carol
(Virginia Beach, VA)

Hmmm...wine and cheese!

Hmmm...wine and cheese!

My biggest obstacle to weight loss is that I don't have the willpower to stick with my good intentions. That's the bottom line. I get all gung ho and then fizzle out after a few days.

I love going to the store and getting all of the good, healthy foods to have on hand. It makes me feel positive just purchasing them.

Then I get bored after a couple of days and crave something like mac and cheese.

I have IBS also, so my stomach "wants" comfort foods most of the time. I do have oatmeal and Activia, most mornings for breakfast since that's what the Gastro doctor has recommended for my IBS problems.

Another "obstacle" (as you see I have several not just one) is that I do like wine and cheese. My husband has no weight issues and has wine and cheese and crackers every evening around cocktail hour. Some nights I resist and I do choose red wine since that's "better for the heart and digestion".

I can always "justify" my actions and slips though. So, I have all of these issues, not just one, and do feel like I'm a hopeless case sometimes.

I do want to be smaller and "cute" though. So, HELP!!!! I need willpower because my lifestyle with family and friends is not going to change. I know that I must do the changing!!!!!

I know exactly how you feel! I wake up every morning with the best intentions to follow a healthy lifestyle, but then reality gets in the way.

We have so few vices,Carol, why does weight have to be one? Well...we may not be "small and cute" but we're still C-U-T-E!! Thanks for sharing! xxoo
