Guests

by Prashant
(Pune)

Guests are my biggest obstacle to weight loss. People who come visiting screw up my whole routine and overstay their welcome. It is quite difficult to focus with things to do for them in the mind. And they need your attention too. They leave and another set of people who haven't visited for a long time show up.
I'm thinking of strategies to solve this once and for all.

I Had to Laugh!
by: Gail

I'm sorry, Prashant, but I had to laugh at your description of guests who come to visit and won't leave!

I agree that it's tough to stick to a plan when you have disruptions in your regular schedule. Most of the time, I use those visits as an excuse NOT to diet, but recently, a friend came to visit while I was seriously motivated to diet. I was determined I would continue to follow my plan regardless of our activities and I did! I was quite pleased with myself after she left.

Really, it's just a matter of how bad you want to stick to your diet. If you pump yourself up ahead of time and recognize that it will be tougher to stick to your plan, then you won't be blindsided. Good friends won't mind that you're dieting, and will in fact, admire you for staying so focused. If they're not good friends, or family that you love, then who cares what they think? You have to look out for yourself!

Good luck with this issue!
